Post-Pandemic WFH: The Glorious, Glitchy Era of Working From Home

Once upon a Teams call, not so far from my fridge, I boldly declared: “I’ll never go back to an office again.” Fast forward five years, and here I am… still at home, still in joggers, and still muting myself just in time to yell “WHO ATE MY SNACKS?!”

The WFH Dream That Went Slightly Rogue

The post-pandemic work-from-home fantasy was supposed to be all lemon water, productivity, and deep focus. Instead, my Wi-Fi turned into an unreliable roommate, my in-laws became my loudest coworkers, and I began hosting 3-hour meetings that could’ve been a Slack emoji or a silent cry in my bed.

My Daily Work Routine (AKA Chaotic Neutral)

  • 8:00 AM: Gym + Mandatory Protein Shake!
  • 10:30 AM: Coffee + Panic scroll through emails.
  • 12:00 AM: Pretend my camera “isn’t working.”
  • 1:00 PM: Existential dread over forgotten calendar invites.
  • 3:00 PM: Snack like it’s a sport.
  • 8:30 PM: Vow to be better tomorrow. (Narrator: She wouldn’t.)

Lessons from My Living Room Office

I’ve learned that “Can you see my screen?” is the new “Hello.” That working remotely doesn’t mean working constantly. And that yes, it’s possible to burn out while wearing slippers.

So here’s to the glorious, glitchy, semi-productive magic of the post-pandemic WFH life. We may never go back to cubicles full time, but at least now we know: the grass isn’t always greener—it’s just got better bandwidth.
