Adjusted for Inflation: Fighting With Your Spouse About Money

I was booking a trip for our holidays for the year end and spend a little more money than I traditionally would. My husband (who is in India right now)started getting mad at me as he wasn’t comfortable with how much I was investing in the holiday. He got so angry that I almost was thinking of cancelling the whole plan!!

This took me back to a time when 10 years ago, he got me an iPod which was over half his salary in those years and progressed over the years to give me presents that were well beyond his means just to see me happy. I was so guilty but giddy with happiness that he thought so much for me!

Don’t get me wrong, I am not a romantic and not romanticising my intent but I do want to have a good time and live well so I did it.

What I did was probably not even close to what he got me in terms of %age to income but then who is keeping track here!?

In this world of grey, when did we start looking at numbers and forget the adjustment for inflation..both for money and for emotions that come with age! In the end, I ignored him and his anger and know that I will probably have an epic time this year end.. and he will do!!

P.S. that’s a picture of us pre-physical inflation..🤪

Till later!
