Shopping Addiction: What 400 Square Feet of Stuff Taught Me

I was at a friends place a few days ago and what baffled me is that in a 500 sqft studio, the person had managed to fill 400 sqft of stuff.. by no means am I a minimalist but that baffled the bejesus out of me!

Over the next few days, I observed a pattern where every time we stepped out, the personality of the individual in question bloomed after they made a purchase.. even if it was for 1-2$

I dug deeper and found out that the individual was the youngest of 3 siblings and usually would get hand me downs from the elder 2 so they were overcompensating and how!?!

That got me thinking about our past and it’s impact on who we are today.

When does our past let go of us.. at what point will be look back at precious possessions or decisions and realise that they were a compensation of what our past didn’t allow for and maybe not who we want to be in the future.

What do we then do about the stuff, people, relationships we collected and don’t need. Most of them are past their expiry and return dates!

I don’t know.. do you?

Till later!
