I’m Not Alone: Speaking to a Room With Nobody in It for You

I began the day feeling sad.. I had a speaking event in the city in the afternoon and no one was there from my friends and family to hear me.

I got dressed, had some breakfast and stepped out to get an Uber as it was raining. The event was only a few blocks away and as the cab started moving, my misery started to multiply. The thoughts of being alone started to get to me.. why did I have to do this? Were these experiences more important than just having people around you who believe in you and are always around to cheer you up..

I reached the venue in about 10 mins and as I stepped out of the car, I got a text from a designer from my team that she was here.. to support me. I ran up to the area to find that 2 of my design colleagues and now my very good friends decided to come to hear me speak and to show support..

The speaking engagement went well, my friends cheered me and the audience had great time.. after all that, the 3 of us stepped out and went to lunch to celebrate the day and just like that, I had my friends.. many many miles away from where I thought they existed.. maybe we just have to look hard and we may find that we are not alone.. I sure wasn’t today.. my friends came through.. ❤️you both!

Till later!
