Nearly Lost It All in a Singapore Casino… and Walked Out of Hermès with a Kelly

Singapore; the land of futuristic skylines, spotless streets, and one very judgmental casino floor that almost took me down.

It started innocently enough, a quick detour into the casino, a few small bets and then… a disaster. I lost nearly everything. The kind where the loss hits you hard. Your stomach drops. Your palms sweat. You mentally calculate whether selling your mutual funds will fund the rest of your trip!

I was mid regret spiral, plotting my quiet exit and Googling “cheap lunch options near Marina Bay Sands,” when by sheer accident or divine casino karma.. I hit a wild, random win. The kind that makes you look at the screen twice. Then again. Then check if someone’s filming you!

I hadn’t just won it back. I’d won back more.. a lot more.

Naturally, in true emotional recovery style, I did what any sensible woman would do: marched straight to Hermès.

Now, if you’ve ever tiptoed into a Hermès boutique, you know the rules. There’s usually a “spend history,” a waitlist, and possibly a blood pact involved before they even mention a Birkin or Kelly. But that day? That day, the fashion gods were feeling generous. No pre-spend. No hoops. I walked out with a bag. I still don’t fully understand what happened that day or what gods sought me out and blessed me.. hard. I just nodded politely, paid, and floated out like I belonged.

The rest of the trip felt like the universe making up for all the chaos and lack of travel in 2025. I wandered into quaint little cafés tucked into quiet corners of Demsey hills, gossiped over cappuccinos, sat by the water watching the city glow at dusk, and let the rhythm of Singapore slow me down.

No gym. No pings. No guilt. Just peace.

Sometimes you lose everything and still come out with a story, a bag, and a much-needed reminder that life is chaotic but occasionally, it’s also wildly kind.
