There are days when I feel like a goddess. And then there are Fridays—when I’m two meetings away from a meltdown, my energy is MIA, and I’m seriously questioning my life choices, including that “calorie deficit” I’ve been flirting with all week.
In a burst of midweek rebellion (or boredom), I booked a hair color appointment. Because nothing screams control over your life like chemically altering your scalp. I walked in thinking “dark caramel glow” and walked out looking like I may have just survived a minor identity crisis. It’s fine. Totally fine. It’ll oxidize, right?
Now back home, freshly highlighted and utterly drained, I stared into the fridge like it owed me something. Unfortunately, the only thing it was offering was the sad diet meal I’d made during this week’s burst of optimism. I sighed, chewed, and mourned bread like it was a bad breakup.
By 4 PM, my to-do list still looked suspiciously untouched. My energy? Gone. My mood? Somewhere between “slightly feral” and “don’t talk to me unless you have carbs.” And to top it off, everyone at work had mysteriously come alive—slack pings bouncing in like an introvert’s nightmare.
But here’s the kicker: it’s not even 5p.m.. I’m tired like I just hosted a toddler’s birthday party, but the weekend hasn’t even started. There’s no wine yet. Just water, hair dye fumes, and an internal monologue that sounds like a cranky motivational speaker.
So yes—today, I am a hungry, half-brunette woman on the edge of a weekend she’s too tired to enjoy. But tomorrow’s a new day. And possibly a new shade.
More on it… till later!
